6th Dan Ju Jitsu / 2nd Dan Judo

Shihan Kevin McKane began martial arts in 1980 and gained his 1st degree black belt in judo in 1983. He represented Surrey on many occasions and was a regular on the local competition scene. While working overseas in 1984 Kevin founded the Falkland Islands Pioneer Judo Club. This was the first time Judo had been practiced on the island. Returning home in 1986, he formed the England branch of the club which enjoyed many succeses in the Adult and Junior competition circuit. Kevin Gained his 2nd Dan in 1988 at the London Judo Society, Lavender Hill, London.

In 1990 Kevin took up Ju Jitsu under the guidance of Shihan Mike Johnson of Go No Sen Ryu, training regularly at the Budokan, Frimley, Surrey and Farnborough Recreation Centre, Hants. Kevin soon discoveread Ju Jitsu offered everything a dedicated martial artist was looking for.

Enjoying his new art, he gained his 1st Dan in Ju Jitsu in 1993, and his 2nd Dan in 1995. Then in 1998 he received from Shihan Mike Johnson, along with his 3rd Dan, his certificate to teach Go No Sen Ryu Ju Jitsu, making this a special grading.

Renshi Kevin together with Sensei Mark Nelson, a close friend and training partner, founded the Tatsumaki Ju Jitsu Kai (Winding Dragon). Sensei Mark has since emigrated to Australia and is in the process of forming an Australian branch of Tatsumaki. In England the club has grown in statue and is now well established. Shihan Kevin has his own way of teaching Ju Jitsu in a relaxed, good humoured and friendly way.

Kevin was awarded his 4th Dan by Shihan Mike Johnson in October 2002.
In 2012, Kevin was awarded a Humanitarian Award from the Masters Hall of Fame, for his contribution to Ju Jitsu.

He expresses his thanks and admiration to all students of Tatsumaki and Waregachi and hopes they gain as much pleasure in studying the art of Ju Jitsu as he has and will continue to do so for many years to come.
